The Nuts Keep Rolling (Eric Litwin) Activities + Giveaway!

By Karen Cox | Affiliate Disclosure | Filed Under: Reading & Book Activities

The Nuts Keep Rolling is the newest book by bestselling author Eric Litwin. This new book will be available soon on April 18, 2017. Eric Litwin is the author of the first four Pete the Cat books, the Groovy Joe series, and the Nut Family series. Keep reading for activities to go with the book and the giveaway for a signed copy!

The Nuts Keep Rolling: Book Activities (Eric Litwin)

In The Nuts Keep Rolling, Hazel and Wally Nut are really small, but want to be big. They roll through the sticky mud and as they roll, they get bigger and bigger. Along the way, they bump into some problems. Their positive response to these problems is to “keep rolling!”

Of course the book has a song to go with it! Download the Keep Rolling Dance song here. Learn how to do the dance here.

Preorder the book — clicking the book below will take you to Amazon (affiliate link):

Activities to Go with “The Nuts Keep Rolling” Book

Participate in the Health Nut Challenge: Download a printable certificate and a nut tree to assemble for the wall. Each time kids do something healthy, they can add a nut to the Health Nut Tree. When your class does the Keep Rolling Dance, you can add a nut to the tree.

Nut Play Dough Mats: Practice counting and fine motor with these printable play dough mats. Kids will roll play dough to make a “nut”.

Acorn to Tree Life Cycle: Teach the life cycle of an acorn with these printable cards.

Squirrel/Nut Grid Game: Add acorns to this grid game while practicing counting.

Nut Sorting: Set up this nut sorting science center.

Rolling on Ramps: Try this science experiment to see which objects roll and do not roll.

Sizes: Try these activities to teach about sizes. Use the vocabulary in the book to introduce the skill.

Printable Size Sequencing Cards

Print these size sequencing cards to use while retelling the story. Kids can put the pictures in order by size while at the same time, they are putting them in the order of the story. You can also have kids match the sizes of the nuts to the animal sizes (cat, dog, elephant).

Download: Sequencing Cards
