Snowman Letter Search

By Karen Cox | Affiliate Disclosure | Filed Under: Uncategorized

This is a new activity for the Winter season.

Snowman Letter Search

Download and print out the Snowman Letter Search mats by clicking the link below. Either laminate them or slip them into clear page protectors. Children will choose a mat, identify the letter in the directive at the top, and find and mark them with a manipulative. Manipulatives can be flat floral marbles, coins, bingo chips, Unifix cubes, lima beans, etc. Each mat has 3 uppercase letters and 3 lowercase letters to find. [Hint: Use a blue marker to write the letter in large print at the top of each card.]

I also tried an alternate idea one year when my class was really into using dry erase markers. I put each page into a page protector, stacked them, and put them in a notebook binder to make a “Snowman Alphabet Book”. Children used dry erase markers to circle the letters, and it erased easily from the page protector.

I have also added several new art, math, science, & center activities to the Winter page.

Look for these new activities: Snowy Scene art, Scarf Making, Snowflake art, Play Dough Snowman, Sorting, Counting, Sizes, Winter Walk, Snowman Snack, Ice Skating Movement Activity, & ideas for dramatic play, blocks, & science centers.

    Hi Karen,
Thank you for these updates. Is there any way that when you add something new you can note it on the website?

I visit your site while starting to plan for a theme, and it would be helpful to know which activities are new when I go back after your update. This way I can scroll right to the new activities and not have to weed through all of them.

    Thanks,
    Katie

    Hi Katie,

I really appreciate your feedback– I’m always glad to get feedback & suggestions from people who visit! I will think about your idea. It would take a bit more work on my part to add a graphic showing each new item on the page, and then I would have to later go back and remove all of them when it was no longer new. The reason I haven’t done that before now is because I thought I’d probably forget to remove the signs saying “new” once it was no longer new. I will consider the idea, & thanks again for the suggestion!

Love your winter book suggestions. We’re reading The Hat this week. Can’t wait, this is always a favorite that they ask about for the rest of the year!
