Christmas Advent Calendar

This is for those who teach in Christian preschool programs

Christmas Advent Calendar @ PreKinders.com

This is one I’ve been intending to post for a while and I am glad I’m finally getting around to it. :) I currently teach in public school Pre-K, so this picture is from my Christian school days.

To make this advent calendar, or Christmas count-down, print the two pages and attach to a 12×18 inch sheet of construction paper. I didn’t write the poem, but it’s one that has circulated through preschool classrooms for years until no one knows where it came from.

Have the children make a nativity scene on the poem page. I have done this different ways. I’ve had them just draw pictures of Mary, Joseph, baby Jesus, and the stable animals. I’ve also had them stamp the pictures using a set of Nativity stamps. Make a stable by gluing 4 wooden craft sticks on the paper.

Children will take the calendar home and color a star each night with their families (the directions are in the poem).

First, I do so enjoy your site-looking at ideas & pictures, etc. I am so impressed at all you do and how beautifully you do it! Thank you so much for sharing your generous gifts of creativity, organization & what seems to be your love of what you do!
I was so excited at the new post about your Advent calendar-what perfect timing! Unfortunately, I am not able to see anything? I downloaded the calendar several times and nothing shows up. So, I am wondering if you have any ideas, tips, suggestions I might use/try to print out your awesome calendar.
    Thanks in advance ,

Oh, I love this! I made my copies today for my students to start decorating tomorrow. It looks like they’ll need to color their first star on Friday night. Thank you so much for sharing.

    Karen,
The timing of the advent calendar posting was perfect. Another program at our facility asked to use my advent calendar this year. Rather than both of our programs using the same calendar, mine will be different. I am going to have the students glue craft sticks to make a stable in the blank area around a drawing of Mary, Joseph, and Baby Jesus.
    Thank you!! ☺
