Here is a new Snowman Letter Sounds Game for the Winter Activities page.
I plan to add more printables, but went ahead and uploaded these for those who are planning for January.
Print out the Letter Sounds Mats and laminate or slip into clear page protectors. To play this game, children will identify the letter at the top, and cover only the pictures with the same beginning sound. Manipulatives to cover the pictures could be Unifix cubes, plastic bingo chips, lima beans, coins, flat floral marbles, etc. My suggestion is to place the game mats on a tray with only 5 manipulatives. Each mat has 5 pictures that begin with that letter. Having only 5 manipulatives will remind them to search for 5 pictures, and will help them self-check. You may need to review what the pictures represent before playing the game. (Note: The letter X uses pictures representing words that end in the /x/ sound.)

Hi Karen,
I love your website! As a new K teacher, you have given me some really great ideas and activities – my students love them and I love the feeling of being able to keep up with my more experienced teammates.
Thank you for these updates also. The updates help to remind me to check out your site for new ideas or to refresh my memory about the activities.
Thanks!
Katie
Thanks Katie! Glad these are helpful!
Karen,
Thank you for all of the work you do. I have your site on my favorites and I check it all the time!
I came up with ideas for all of the letters. Some might not work, though. Here they are:

J: jar, jack-o-lantern, jellyfish, jet plane, jeans
O: olive, octopus, ostrich, octagon, ox, otter
Q: quarter, quilt, queen, question mark, quail
U: umbrella, unicycle, unicorn, USA, underwear, up
V: volcano, violin, vacuum, van, vest, vase
W: wolf, watermelon, whale, web, wheel
X: x-ray, xylophone, that was all I could think of
Y: yarn, yo-yo, yolk, yawn, yak
Z: zig-zag, zebra, zipper, zero, zoo, zucchini, zookeeper
Wow, thanks Meg! I will see if I can find the clipart for those words.
