Wild Animal Dice Games

Here are two variations of a dice race game I made for our Wild Animal theme. You can pick either one you want to use.

Wild Animal Dice Race Game

Directions:

Print out the game and prepare the dice by cutting out the animal dice pictures and attaching them to wooden cubes with double sided tape. Children will roll their die and use a bingo marker to stamp that animal on their game. They continue rolling and stamping until one animal wins the race. Have the children count how many they stamped of each animal and decide which animals had the most and least. Did any of the animals have the same amount?

I also included a recording sheet with the game for those who need it (more for Kindergarten, but it could be offered as a choice for advanced Pre-K kids). Not all Pre-K children are ready for recording their answers on a recording sheet. I am using this game at small group this week, but I also used it last year, so it is kid tested. šŸ™‚

The second variation of the dice race game uses dotted dice. Children roll the die, count the dots, and stamp the corresponding number. They continue rolling and stamping until one animal wins the game. I might put this game in our math center as a choice.

    Dear Karen:

Thanks for sharing your resources. I especially liked your new safari power point and the one about lions. Those are not units we will work on in kindergarten this year; but maybe next.

CUTE!!! I have to roll my brains to fit this into family game night!!

Our pre-kindy is our youngest, so of course, I need to make it fun enough to entertain 50 yr dad
    42 yr mom ( me)
    8 yr old sister
6 yr old brother (slowly starting to read)

So, I am thinking what about giving everybody a mat and use one die and one bingo stamper that we pass around. Then not only do the animals on each mat compete with each other, they also compete with all the other animals on everybody else’s mat!

If you laminate these sheets, will the bingo stamper wipe off for additional games?

Also, I’d like to find some quiet dice… Know where I can get some foam dice?

Hi Jenny, Thanks so much! I’m glad you like the printable and can use it with your family! Yes, the bingo ink should wipe off laminated sheets. Foam dice: not sure, maybe Oriental Trading has them?

Dollar Tree has foam dice right now and they are pretty big. I bought several different color for my preschool classroom.
