This science center display can be set up in spring or summer, especially during a study of ocean animals. This is a collection of seashells, coral, sea sponges, starfish, and a seahorse.

I used black felt on the shelf to make the shells stand out.

What to add to the Ocean Life center:
- Seashells in a variety of sizes and types
- Sea sponge
- Starfish
- Coral
- Seahorse
- Shark teeth
- Fossils of sea creatures
- Ocean books
- Ocean photo cards or posters with real pictures
- Plastic ocean animals (as realistic as possible)

- Ocean sounds audio

Ocean Picture Sort
Children can sort real photos of ocean animals. For this activity, I used the ocean animals and forest animals from this Animal Environment Classification set. Children can sort the ocean and forest animals onto the correct mats. The set also includes Safari animals, Polar animals, and Farm animals, so you can use all 5 sets or just choose 2 sets as shown in the photo below.
