Fall Picture Word Cards

Here is a set of Fall Picture-Word Cards that I have added to the Picture Word Cards collection. This set includes apple, pumpkin, gourd, rake, tree, leaf, sunflower, scarecrow, crow, acorn, squirrel, turkey, pie, corn, football. This set has 15 word cards.

Using the cards in the classroom:

I place the word cards in a pocket chart I have in my writing center. I only put the word card set in pocket chart that matches the theme we are doing currently. If you want to have all sets of word cards available all year, I would recommend making little picture dictionaries by hooking them together with binder rings or binding combs.

My students can take the word cards out of the pocket chart and carry them to the table to copy onto their paper. They slip them back into the pockets when they’re finished.

Children could also spell the words with magnetic letters or letter tiles.

More ideas for using these cards:

  • Use them on a word wall.
  • Hook them together on a binder ring to make a picture dictionary.
  • Use the blank set to write words in other languages or other writing styles (e.g. D’Nealian). Or use them for modeled writing activities.

    Dear Karen
Have you recently change your word cards? I thought i had gotten some cards that were in black and white off your site that went with your theme like i remember a picture of a bus that went with school. Also are your pattern block cards still on your site i have not been able to find them.

    Thanks PAT

No, I haven’t changed the word cards. Perhaps you saw it on another site? Yes, the pattern blocks are still here. Look under “Math” or type “pattern blocks” in the search bar. Thanks!

Thank you so much for your wonderful resources!! These are something I’ve wanted to make for a while, but finding the time (and energy!) is always a struggle. I know your materials and ideas are so VERY appreciated by myself and many other preschool teachers. You are a blessing! Thank you, again!!

I thank you so much for the words cards. I especially like the blank cards because I am a dual language teacher so I can translate the cards into Spanish as well and have both sets done thanks a million. I believe I downloaded them all.
