Fall Block Center Play Ideas in Preschool

By Karen Cox | Affiliate Disclosure | Filed Under: Centers

Here are some ideas to spice up your Block Center for Fall. I like to add different items to my block center for different seasons and themes to add some extra fun and interest for the kids. These are things I have in my block center in Fall. Some are simple items to collect and others can be purchased from educational catalogs.

Fall Block Play Ideas

Artificial Leaves

You can buy bags of Fall colored artificial leaves in craft stores or dollar stores. Add these leaves in a bin or basket for children to play with while they build with blocks.

Tree Blocks

Tree blocks are building blocks that are both fun and educational. Children have to use problem solving and math skills to build with these. Several companies sell these now. One of the sets that I own, I was able to find used on eBay.

From Amazon:

Forest Animals

Use a collection of forest animal toys for children to play with among the leaves or the Tree Blocks. Kids can build a forest with the Tree Blocks and put the animals in the forest. You can use a set of small animals like the Safari Ltd Toobs, or a larger set from an educational catalog.

From Amazon:

Plastic Pumpkins

Kids love to decorate their block buildings with these mini plastic pumpkins. These can always be found in many stores near Halloween (Walmart, Hobby Lobby, etc.) You could be brave and use the real mini pumpkins, but I use these mini plastic pumpkins so we won’t have any messes if a pumpkin is smashed.

Looks great! My kids would definitely love the animals… Do your kids build the type of structures pictured here themselves or do they need lots of visual and verbal support they first few months-like mine do? Just wondering…
I love your posts and you always have original ideas! Thanx for sharing

    Awesome! Yes! Keep sharing!
Something I am going to bring out for our next unit-community!

I have kept the green aloe-Vera drink bottles to “up cycle” and taped their faces on, added a blue duct tape shirt and black duct tape pants for the boys and a pink duct tape dress for the girls!
