Easter: Cross Snack

Here’s a Cross snack you can make with children at Easter or anytime. (This post is for those who teach in Christian programs.)

Make a Cross Snack for Easter

Materials Needed:

  • Graham crackers
  • Icing or cream cheese
  • Food color
  • Your Choice: Chocolate chips or raisins or M&Ms or Sixlets
  • Paper plates
  • Small cups
  • Craft sticks

Give children a graham cracker on a plate. Scoop either icing or cream cheese in a paper cup with a drop of purple food color, or color of your choice.  I like to use the “neon” food color, because they actually make pastels (as seen in the photo). Children can stir the food color with the craft stick.

Step 1: Graham Cracker with Icing

Let the children spread their icing on a graham cracker with the spreader. Remember, the more you allow children to do themselves, the more they will enjoy the activity and benefit from it.

Step 2: Spread icing on the graham cracker

Have them make a cross on it with the mini chocolate chips, raisins, M&M’s, or Sixlets. {The picture below shows green Sixlets.} If needed, you can trace a cross in the icing with a toothpick to give the children an outline to follow.

Step 3: Make a cross with candies.
