Christmas Literacy & Math Games

By Karen Cox | Affiliate Disclosure | Filed Under: Christmas Theme

These two Christmas activities will help your Preschool, Pre-K, or Kindergarten kids practice writing and counting skills in a fun way!

Christmas Printables at PreKinders.com

I have created two new Christmas games: one for math and one for literacy. I uploaded both of these to the Teachers Pay Teachers (TPT) website, but don’t worry, they are both completely FREE! All you need to do is login and hit the “Download Now” button. I’d also love it if you’d leave me some {positive} feedback on TPT… or here in the comments section below. 🙂

Christmas Roll n Write

Roll ‘n’ Write Game

To play this game, children roll a letter die (make one with a wooden cube) and write the letter they rolled. This game was a huge hit when I made a Transportation Roll ‘n’ Write game last year. Find more Roll ‘n’ Write Games here.

Christmas Path Game

Path Game

Children can play this game independently or with a friend. This is what I call a “short path game” because it’s on one page — I have an example of a long path game here. Path games are great for counting practice. Children roll a numeral or dotted die and count out the number of spaces to move the playing piece. You can use something like a Unifix cube for a playing piece or a mini snowman figure, whatever is easily accessible. A plastic Christmas ornament would work well.

The best way to have more than one child play without the hurt feelings that comes with competition is to use one playing piece and have both children take turns and work to move that one playing piece to the finish.

Thanks so much for the “as few dittos as possible” theory. Hands on is so-o-o-o much needed in early childhood. Your work is greatly appreciated!
