This is our calendar. I use a real calendar (this one has Van Gogh paintings). I circle the days that are past, mark birthdays with the child's name, mark holidays and special events with a simple symbol, and mark days at home with a symbol of a house. The children enjoy looking through the pages to see the special days we have passed and those that are upcoming (especially their birthdays).
